Small by design.
Scientific by nature.
MTTlab is an independent preclinical research company based in Trieste, Italy.
Founded in 2015 and built on hands-on in vivo research experience dating back to 2003, we support biotech companies and academic research groups with tailored experimental strategies, direct scientific collaboration and a highly flexible approach to preclinical research.
Built around a different idea of research partnership.
MTTlab was created around a simple conviction: outsourcing an experiment should not mean losing contact with the science behind it.
From the beginning, we chose to remain close to our clients and their research.
That means understanding the project before designing the study, adapting experimental strategies when necessary and keeping clients informed while the work is still in progress — not only when the final report arrives.
More than a decade later, that principle remains at the heart of the way we work.
Your project may be performed in our laboratory. It should never feel distant from yours.
Experience that continues to evolve.
- 2003
The experience begins
Hands-on work in in vivo research and experimental pharmacology.
- 2015
MTTlab is founded
An independent research company built around scientific expertise, flexibility and direct relationships with clients.
- 2015–Today
80+ studies
Research programs conducted for European biotech companies and academic groups across different stages of preclinical development.
- Today
Expanding our scientific perspective
Alongside our established in vivo expertise, MTTlab is developing advanced in vitro capabilities and integrating new human-relevant experimental approaches.
- Tomorrow
Connecting models, technologies and expertise
Our direction is toward increasingly integrated translational research strategies, combining complementary experimental models and scientific expertise around each research question.
Close to the science. Close to our clients.
Being a small independent company is not something we try to hide.
It is part of how we work.
A lean structure allows us to stay directly involved in projects, make decisions quickly and adapt when research takes an unexpected direction.
Our clients do not move through layers of commercial contacts and project management before reaching the scientist responsible for their study.
They talk to us.
And we intend to preserve that proximity as MTTlab grows.
Curiosity brought us into science. Passion keeps us here.
Research rarely follows a perfectly straight path.
What keeps us engaged is the opportunity to understand something new: a biological mechanism, an unexpected result, a different model or a better way to answer a scientific question.
We approach our clients’ projects with that same curiosity.
Because for us, good research is not simply about completing a protocol.
It is about understanding what the experiment is telling us.
Building the MTTlab of tomorrow.
Preclinical research is changing.
Advanced in vitro systems, dynamic culture technologies and increasingly human-relevant models are creating new opportunities to investigate biological questions and build more informative experimental strategies.
MTTlab is evolving with this change.
We are expanding our in vitro capabilities while maintaining the in vivo expertise on which the company was built, with the long-term goal of connecting complementary models rather than treating them as competing approaches.
This evolution is supported by scientific collaborations and by our Scientific Advisory Board, bringing new expertise and perspectives into MTTlab.
Talent does not always follow a conventional path.
We believe science benefits from people who think differently, bring different experiences and have the curiosity to challenge established approaches.
As MTTlab grows, we want to create opportunities for talented scientists who may not have followed traditional academic career paths but share our commitment to rigorous, curious and collaborative research.
For us, building a company also means building a place where scientific talent has room to grow.
Science starts with a conversation.
If you are looking for a research partner who will take the time to understand your project before proposing an experiment, we’d like to hear about it.
